Appearance: Annabel is tall and well-muscled. She had bright green eyes and a seemingly perpetual smirk. She has very fair skin and is lightly dusted with freckles, which come out more once she steps through the Eighth Gate and into the sun for the first time. Her head is shaved for the first ten or so pages of the story, revealing the bar code that all the citizens of World have as a means of tracking them. As she spends more time down in the Labyrinth, her tight copper curls begin to grow out. Afterwards, she keeps her hair very short, rarely any longer than an inch and a half.

Like every other human-descendant of World, Annabel's ears are elongated and sloping back, a genetic alteration that adatped the early settlers to the atmospheric pressure of their planet and allowed them to hear and be heard by others. They are not elf-like by any standards, as they are still blunted and rounded. She wears a number of earrings along her ears, as is the style. Hers are simple hoops and studs.

She usually wears any combination of black and white and grey, though her shirts are almost always open-backed, revealing the black branding scars of Heaven's Mark, at once her fate as a fighter, and as a woman. Heaven's Mark is a stylized pair of wings with other arcane symbols. From this point in her back, she can later summon ethereal cyan feathered wings, and the Mark later aids in her magic.
Special Abilities: Annabel is a skilled fighter and has mastered the dual-knife fighting that Carmelotto taught her. She is very acrobatic, despite her height, and has a certain resiliance that allows her to keep going, even after things start going, literally, to hell. Also, through a combination of fate, Heaven's Mark, and her semi-divine heritage, she is able to cast complicated, deadly magic spells, which are often strong enough to take out more than just people, but portions of reality as well.

Appearance: First, he's a green and yellow polka-dotted egg. Then, he is a thick-bodied black snake-like creature. Lastly, he has four legs, and is about the size of a labrador. He has big talons, all the better to rend your skin from your bones, my dear. His eyes are black, and he prefers to live in cave systems, because they're quiet and cool-temperatured.
Special Abilities: Zero to "I KILL YOU!" in about two seconds. Also, gains power over the Negatius Fragment (see stats page), and the ability to piss almost everyone off.

Name: Carmelotto Levante
Other Names: Mel
Age: Begins story at 25, ends about 30
Race: Human-Descendant
Job Description: Annabel's tutor in the bloodsport, and later an upper administrator of the system. Also, Hend's lackey
Appearance: Mel is gorgeous, practically angellic in appearance. Although bald as a result of the society, he has blonde eyebrows, and brown eyes. Of course, he has his bar code across the crown of his head. He is built like there's no tomorrow, and he has an agreeable smile. Beyond that, there is little to mark him as seperate from anyone else.
Special Abilities: Master of the dual-knife style of fighting employed in the Court. Unfaltering loyalty to Tirival Hend.

Name: Tirival Hend
Other Names: Son of World
Age: Ageless, untouched by time
Race: Planet-descendant
Job Description: Protector of World, Chair
Appearance: Though his true form is unknown and likely noncorporeal, Tirival Hend has taken on the body of one of the early explorers of World, specifically a science officer. He appears in his mid-forties, and keeps his head shaved in order to properly assimilate into the society he has brought up around him. When he is not putting on the ruse that he is a normal human-descendant, he has a head of thick, black hair with silver streaks jutting from the temples. He has green eyes, most of the time, and dresses in any of the many styles that have evolved in his many centuries of rule.
Special Abilities: Hend's true abilities are unknown, as he is unable to access them in a human form. Only by giving up his power and conceit, brought on by many centuries of living as a man, is he able to draw upon his truly World-altering abilities. As he has long forgotten his old ways, having spent centuries assimilating to the human-descendants, he has abilities similar to Annabel's, though hers are stronger and more pure.

Name: Franqiel Etherns

Age: 17
Race: Human-descendant
Job Description: One of Annabel's trainees.
Appearance: Pretty nondescript. He's Elrondäv's identical twin, which is a huge rarity, implying a natural birth. The fertility rate for the female human-descendants is very high, owing in part to genetic compensation for other alterations to their DNA, and also for compensation in so few natural births. Most citizens are born in vitro.

Franq's average looking, but with a charming smile. He has black eyebrows, green eyes, and, of course, no hair anywhere else.
Special Abilities: Nothing out of the ordinary. He has a good sense of humor, and is learning the dual knife-style fighting from Annabel.

Name: Elrondäv Etherns

Age: 17
Race: Human-descendant
Job Description: Annabel's Other!Trainee
Appearance: Identical to Franq's. The only thing different about the two of them is their bar codes, one number off.
Special Abilities: Also possessing a good sense of humor and great desire to learn. Also learning the dual-knife style from Annabel.

Name: Corliss
Other Names: None. That's what you call her. Corliss.
Age: Too old to have an accurate count anymore.
Race: Seraph, transformed into a Gorgon.
Job Description: Seer and Sage of the Gehenians.
Appearance: In her natural form, Corliss has long brown hair and radiant wings, wearing sweeping gowns and possessing a shining golden halo. Transformed, her skin has turned purple-green and her hair has withered into tiny snakes. Her legs have fused into a long serpentine tail, and her once-feathered wings are now tattered and leathery purple. Her eyes are a milky blue-white, owing to cataracts. She is as tall as Annabel's hand is long.
Special Abilities: Foresight, teleportation. She is one of the few Gehenians blessed with any power beyond teleportation, and has sacrificed her normal sight for it. And she can still be wrong.

Age: Younger than Corliss, but not young enough to care anymore.
Race: Satyr, transformed to a Minotaur.
Job Description: Aide to Corliss
Appearance: In his natural form, Charlie has dark brown hair and quiet brown eyes. He is bare-chested, possessing goat-like legs, cloven hooves, tiny red horns, and a spaded end to a whiplike tail. In his transformed form, however, he has the torso and head of a bull, his hands ending in cloven hooves, and bare legs, over which he wears a simple tattered piece of cloth as a loincloth. He is very unhappy as a minotaur, like any other Gehenian, and yearns for the day when he can again be a satyr. He is only as tall as Nabel's hand is long.
Special Abilities: Teleportation, good leadership skills.

Age: Youngest of the three siblings, only about three hundred.
Race: Satyr, transformed to a Minotaur.
Job Description: Aide to Corliss and Nabel
Appearance: In his natural form, Lucy has short blonde hair in tiny spikes, almost covering his tiny red horns. He has brown furry goat-like legs and cloven hooves, and a long, whip-like tail ending in a red spade. In his transformed form, however, he, too, has the torso and head of a bull, though his is jersey-blonde. He wears a simple tattered loincloth, and is often smiling, despite his fate.
Special Abilities: Teleportation. Very optimistic outlook.
