Kip's had a pretty tough life, which earned him the dubious "honor" of being the first black dragon adopted out of the Realm. After spending centuries in stasis, kept out of the light by Tirival Hend, the keeper of the planet World and direct descendant from the planet's spiritual energy, there was little doubt that he gave up hope of getting out or ever having a happy bonding. As it was, his bondmate was none other than Hend's genetically engineered daughter, Annabel, a cheerful thing with a penchant for bloodsports.
Together, the two of them got over themselves enough to develop a bond that swings bipolar, from very tight to very loose and then back again. They fulfilled Annabel's destiny as the purger of World. They toppled the dictatorship that Hend had imposed upon the human-descendant population, and freed the enslaved Gehenians, returning them to their former glories. They also destroyed half of World in the process, but no one said it was going to be an easy job, did they?
And now, through the Eighth Gate, they have travelled and found themselves in the Cross-Realm, that little pocket of space that has seams and doors and rifts to all other dimensions.
And there, allegedly, they've found peace. We'll see how long that lasts.
Kipfel has been blessed with a Fortitude Sufan, whom he refers to as Löwenherzchen, or "Little Lion Heart". Löwen is a plotting, scheming little thing who would love for all the bishel dragons on the Inla archipelago to bend over backwards to take care of it. It loves to push the dragons around, and sometimes the humans, either by charming them with its excessively cute actions or actually using its empathic nudges to start huge boulders of suggestion rolling towards them. It chose Kipfel for its own reasons, though likely because he wanted the courage to be himself, and didn't know how to find it. As a result, Löwen is fiercely protected by the black dragon, and pampered from now til kingdom-come.
For the 2003 Holiday Celebration, the Realm gifted Kip with a bone to sharpen his teeth and silver horn covers, which he wears whenever he pleases. Then again, he wears most of his hoard whenever he pleases. So there's nothing too exceptional about that.
In honor of their mating, Kip's beloved Ira gave him three rings with which to start "a proper hoard". They have a ... complicated... relationship. They're very fond of one another, very much in love, but they both have different priorities, and Kip can be a little... crazy, sometimes. Surprisingly, in the relationship, Ira is the one who usually gets his way, mostly because he has the magic powers of Higher Logic, which Kip could care less about.
