Where trhere are prophets, there are oracles. This is a traditional saying of the people who live in the Nalgoth region near the southern coastal seas and archipelagos. Oracles do not, traditionally, come from any other area, though they may leave it at any time they choose.

Where propheths see the future, oracles see the past. Frequently, if one has prophetic abilities, they often also have orcallic abilities to some degree, but the opposite is not always true.

Oracles are people who can see the past through the eyes of a natural force. These natural forces are the six elements: Earth, Water, Wind, Fire, Metal, and Wood. Some of their attributes overlap, and all oracles can see the lives of other people whom they touch. For this reason, they are often employed as justices or arbitors. All oracles have their limits to how far back they can see, but the further back they can go, the more lost in the past they become, and the harder it is to pull them back to the present.

Wood Oracles speak to plants, trees, lumber, and objects and structures made from these items. They may touch a wooden toy and find the child whom it belongs to, the parent who bought it, the man who carved it, the lumberjack who felled the tree, the birds who lived in the tree's branches, the life of the tree, and, if they can see that far back, the lives of the parent trees, all the way back to the beginning of the evolution of plants in the world. Most wood oracles can only see the lives of one single tree on a good day, and some can only see a few hours into the past of the object.

Metal Oracles speak to metal objects - rings, weapons, hinges, drinking cups, pots, pins, tools, etc - as well as ores. Some Metal Oracles can only speak to certain colors or types of metal. They can, usually, reach back to the creation of the piece in its current form. Those who can speak to ore can feel the miners who dug it from the earth, as well as any who passed it by as it lay in the stone. Some can speak to the ore all the way back to its creation from the world's core.

Fire Oracles speak to flames, those burning and those that have burned. They are often used in arson investigations, though they can also find, from the cinders, the contents of documents destroyed in a fire, accurate to the letter given ashes from the fire. These have the shortest speaking time, for few fires stretch back to the birth of the world. Almost every fire oracle can see back to when the fire was started and how.

Wind Oracles speak to the breezes and the air around them. Very sensative Wind Oracles are often driven insane, because all the air speaks to them all at once. Most, however, can only hear the air when it speaks to them in a strong breeze. They can know and hear things from towns miles away, as the wind carries the words and ways of people far away. They can see the past all the way to the wind's origins in the atmosphere, depending on their own sensativity and strength.

Water Oracles speak to the sea, the rivers, the puddles, the rains, the sludges, the swamps, and even stews and soups and drinks. They can divine the lives of the creatures living in these areas, the health of the body of liquid, and those who have passed through the body of water for however long. They can also detect poisons in these bodies of liquid, or any other foreign substance or object that has been lost in it.

Earth Oracles feel the passing of ages through the earth beneath them. Dust, stone, ores, earth, decaying corpses, refuse, and other remains are what the Earth Oracles feel the past through. They can, usually, see centuries into the past, for earth rarely moves or changes enough to be greatly disturbed. They can feel monuments back to their creation from a piece of stone, and pebbles as they are washed up from the shore. Some can see back before time was time, and these are the most likely to get lost in the past beyond Wind Oracles. It is of note that Earth Oracles are sometimes referred to as Blood Oracles, because all earth is merely the dead and dying of the world, and these are the only kind of oracle who can speak to dead bodies, body parts, bone fragments, or blood.

All oracles can feel the past of a living person on skin-to-skin contact. For this reason, most oracles live very private, almost reclusive lives and wear a lot of clothing. There is no way to turn off the visions and feelings, unless the oracle chooses to cover all their skin, because it is only skin-to-substance contact that allows for the orcallic divinations to occur.

Oracles are not any more immune to their element than a normal person. Wind Oracles can suffocate, Fire Oracles can burn, Water Oracles can drown, Metal Oracles can be stabbed, Wood Oracles can be lynched, and Earth Oracles can be buried alive. Knowing this, and knowing that the element would have no problem killing them, Oracles are often more cowardly than the normal person when it comes to doing something with the information they have gathered.

Orcallic talent cannot be bred or taught. It is a random occurance of nature.
